The mobile iodine monitor IM 201M, continuously measure gamma volumetric activity from a radioactive iodine sample. Both in molecular and organic forms (methyl iodine). Typically the IM 201M is used to monitor iodine content in air drawn from stacks, ventilation ducts or working areas.
The spectroscopic 1¼” x 1″ NaI(Tl) detector faces the activated charcoal cartridge in which radioactive iodine is trapped. The proximity of the detector and the cartridge is shielded with 5 cm lead in 4π. A radioactive Am-241 source built into the NaI crystal allows drift compensation due to temperature or age.
