Service & reparation Request a quoteA Standard Coaxial Germanium detector (SEGe), stands out for its high sensitivity, good energy resolution and the ability to detect a wide spectrum of gamma radiation. It is constructed as a cylinder of high purity germanium with a central hole in the crystal, n-type contact on the outside of the crystal and a p-type contact on its inside.
Germanium detectors must be cooled to low temperatures to reduce thermal noise and ensure optimal performance. Typical operating temperature is 77 K, which is achieved with liquid nitrogen or electric cryostat cooler.
