Mose infistation cause downtime
2025-01-14
A serious outage occurred at one of Gammadata’s customers when mice caused extensive damage to cables. Thanks to a quick response and efficient logistics, Gammadata was able to fix the problem in record time.
During a service visit to a customer, it was discovered that four optical cables had been chewed by mice. This led to the equipment, normally used to detect radioactive radiation, stopping working.
Rapid intervention
Fortunately, Martin Karlsson, Application and Service Engineer at Gammadata, was already on site with the customer on another assignment. He managed to organise an express courier with spare parts that were delivered the next day. Thanks to the fast delivery and the fact that Gammadata was already on site at the time of discovery, the downtime could be fixed immediately, which was much appreciated by the customer.
Future preventive measures
Equipment that is fixed to the ground is significantly less prone to mouse infestation. The equipment in question will soon be relocated and permanently placed indoors, which is expected to reduce the risk of future infestations and improve the operational safety of the customer.
