Hydraulic presses and other accessories for preparation of solid samples for FTIR analysis. The Specac Manual Hydraulic Press has been the mainstay of any analytical laboratory for decades. KBr pellets are easily prepared in minutes using an Evacuable Pellet Die. The Press can be easily upgraded with Heated Platens in order to prepare polymer thin films (when paired with the constant thickness film maker), or to perform experiments at elevated temperatures. For labs with limited space or requiring a more basic offering miniature pellet presses or film maker kits are also available.
Manual Press | laboratory pellet press
The 15 ton and 25 ton Manual Hydraulic Presses have been designed to handle a wide variety of pressing applications. They are especially suited for the preparation of solid samples for XRF analysis and KBr discs for FTIR analysis Specac Evacuable Pellet Dies. The Presses can also be used with Specac Heated Platens for applications such as the preparation of thin polymer films.
Mini-Pellet Press
The Specac Mini Pellet Press is an entry-level, handheld laboratory hydraulic press for the preparation of high-quality 7 mm KBr pellets for transmission FTIR analysis with up to 2 tons of pressure. Press can be purchased as part of a kit or on it’s own. With a rugged and durable design, this mini hydraulic press is intended for regular laboratory use with maintenance-free operation. It is also portable.
Evacuable Pellet Dies
Specac offer a range of dies manufactured from the highest quality hardened 440C stainless steel to prepare pressed pellets for laboratory analysis, commonly KBr for FTIR and samples for XRF analysis as well as other applications.
Constant Thickness Film Maker
The Constant Thickness Film Maker and High Temperature Constant Thickness Film Maker enable the analyst to produce thin samples of plastics and polymers for laboratory analysis, commonly by FTIR. This potentially enable the accurate and quick identification of additives, contaminants and polymer mixtures.
