Helene Kjellman is Gammadata’s Chief Financial Officer. In this employee interview, Helene gives an insight into her daily tasks, where she is responsible for financial processes and collaborates with various teams to achieve Gammadata’s financial goals.

Can you tell us about yourself and what you do at Gammadata (including how long you’ve been here)?
I joined Gammadata 10 years ago as the Chief Financial Officer, and I am proud to still hold this position today. Over the years, both the company and my role have evolved significantly, ensuring that work is never dull!

Working at a small company with about 30 employees means you get really close to the business. Even though I’m in finance and might not fully understand the details of our products and services, it’s exciting. I really appreciate when our experienced colleagues explain what our instruments do in a way I can understand, leading to entertaining coffee break chats!

I enjoy being part of the ongoing development and transformation at Gammadata as we adapt to the evolving external environment—customers, suppliers, products, and services.

What skills do you think are essential for success in this role?
As mentioned, we are a small company, which means that the tasks vary a lot in scope and complexity. One day, the challenge might involve collaborating with our Business Support team to improve routines and flows in our ERP system. On another day, I might be compiling a statistical report for governmental agencies, and on yet another day, I’m analyzing the monthly financial statements with our team leaders.

To do well in this role, it’s helpful to have a variety of skills. Strong analytical skills are important for evaluating financial data and identifying trends. Effective communication skills assist in collaborating with different teams and explaining complex financial concepts clearly. Adaptability is also valuable, as priorities can shift rapidly, requiring quick and efficient problem-solving. Finally, attention to detail ensures accuracy in all reports and analyses, maintaining Gammadata’s high standards.

How would you describe the team dynamics at Gammadata?
I feel that all employees have a genuine interest in ensuring the success of Gammadata, and that the path to success lies in satisfied customers. We have an internal motto: “Together and individually”. This captures our approach in a clear and precise way. We help each other, and everyone takes their share of responsibility to achieve success.
