Introducing FRAM Multi: Mirion’s New Standard for Gamma Spectroscopy and Isotopic Abundance Determination
2026-03-02
We are excited to announce the launch of FRAM Multi, Mirion’s latest gamma spectroscopy software for accurate relative isotopic abundance determination of plutonium, uranium, and other actinides in nuclear measurement applications. Built on algorithms developed at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and now supporting both laboratory high-purity germanium (HPGe) and portable lanthanum bromide and cadmium zinc telluride (LaBr₃, CZT) detectors, FRAM Multi delivers flexible and reliable analysis for waste management, safeguards, fuel cycle, military, and research users.
FRAM Multi is the next-generation evolution of the established FRAM 5.2 platform, preserving its proven capabilities while adding significant new features and expanded detector compatibility.
Key release highlights
With this release, FRAM Multi introduces:
- Expanded detector support: compatibility with HPGe, LaBr₃ and CZT detectors for both laboratory and field use
- Advanced analysis algorithms based on Los Alamos National Laboratory methods
- Calibration-free, wide-range analysis path for efficient, robust measurements
- Seamless integration with Genie™ 4.0+, enabling streamlined workflows and data handling
- Modernized platform building on FRAM 5.2 with enhanced performance and flexibility
FRAM Multi empowers nuclear industry professionals to accurately and efficiently determine the isotopic composition of plutonium, uranium, and other actinides, even in complex, shielded, or poorly characterized samples. As an upgrade to the widely used FRAM 5.2, it combines expanded detector compatibility (HPGe, LaBr₃, CZT), advanced analysis algorithms, a powerful calibration-free wide-range analysis path, and tight integration with Genie™ 4.0+ to deliver reliable, auditable results for a broad range of nuclear measurement applications, including waste management, safeguards, fuel cycle, military, and research.
