This device is a complete, all-in-one, electrically cooled and fully integrated HPGe spectroscopy system suitable for in situ use thanks to a robust and field-ready design, including the possibility of switching from mains power to battery power without the need to switch off the system or to wait for a full thermal cycle.
Electronics and Design
The detector features an optimized charge-sensitive preamplifier with a cold input stage and resistive feedback network, as well as a temperature alarm card with LED indicator and automatic HV inhibit to prevent damage when the detector is insufficiently cooled. It includes an integrated, electrically cooled cryostat with a compact, transport-friendly design using Ultra-High Vacuum technology for immediate use without thermal cycling. The rugged, full-aluminum housing is equipped with handles for two-person transport and is resistant to light rain while ensuring efficient heat dissipation.
Power, MCA, and Operation
An embedded, replaceable LYNX-II MCA with a visible display provides essential data monitoring. Power is supplied by 24VDC either from mains or two hot-swappable B-mount batteries, allowing uninterrupted operation and automatic charging when connected to AC power (approx. 1.5 hours per 90Wh battery). Operation mirrors that of a standard HPGe detector—simply connect a PC or tablet with GENIE via Ethernet to apply HV and start acquisition; the device can continue measurements independently, with data accessible upon reconnection
