A modified Thermo Electra with extra electronics and cable connector to work with all STS probes. The instrument detects the gas emitted by the STS simulant with properties similar to a real surface contamination. A scan that is too fast or too slow gives no result.
Cross-contamination can be easily detected, as can decontamination – both advantages of using a ”real” contamination, even if it is not radioactive. The contamination lasts at room temperature for 1-2 hours but evaporates completely within 24 hours, leaving the training area ready for the next training session.
The STS 807 can be used with any of the STS probes, including the AP3, DP2, 44A, HP 210, HP 260, DP6, etc.
